Crisis Intervention Grant

With God’s leading, our aim is to champion families towards thriving in their commitment to Christ, adoption, and the healing and restoration of God’s children.

Welcome to Preston Ranch Ministries! We are committed to helping adoptive families thrive by offering financial assistance for crisis intervention expenses. It is our privilege to support families on their post-adoption journey, and we look forward to getting to know your family through the application process.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Although our hope is to cover all granting requests, grants and the amounts awarded are contingent upon the number of applications that are received, the family’s financial situation, and current funding available.

Preston Ranch Crisis Intervention Grants are designated for crisis intervention expenses for adopted children. (See “Eligible Expenses” below for more details.)

Preston Ranch Crisis Intervention Grants are non-transferable and intended solely to cover crisis intervention expenses for the specific child named in the application. Separate applications will be required for any other children in the family with eligible crisis intervention expenses.

Preston Ranch accepts applications for an individual every two years. However, applications for other grant categories (medical and mental health) may be submitted during that two-year period.

Applications must be completed before the specified child turns 18. Grant funds will expire and will no longer be available on the child’s 20th birthday.

Eligible crisis intervention expenses must be provided at a licensed facility in the United States with therapies conducted by licensed mental health providers or overseen by a licensed provider.

Crisis Intervention expenses must have been incurred within the past 12 months AND/OR include anticipated out-of-pocket costs for crisis intervention expenses within 24 months of the application submission. (Note: The incurred date refers to the date the crisis intervention began, not the date payment was made.)

Grants may be paid directly to the provider once insurance has been billed, all insurance options are exhausted, and the post-insurance bill is submitted to Preston Ranch Ministries for crisis intervention. Alternatively, reimbursements can be paid directly to the family after all applicable insurance has been billed and exhausted. Once the post-insurance receipt, marked “paid” by the provider, is submitted to Preston Ranch Ministries, reimbursements will be processed for one month’s crisis intervention expense at a time until the full grant amount is utilized.

If awarded a grant, all applicants must notify Preston Ranch Ministries at grants@prestonranch.org via email if any of the following changes occur: postponement or withdrawal from the crisis intervention process, change in crisis intervention provider, or disruption of the adoption. In the event of such changes, Preston Ranch Ministries reserves the right to discontinue the grant.

Preston Ranch accepts applications and supplemental documents through the online platform only and does not accept these via mail or email.

The applicant must provide contact information for both a pastoral reference and a crisis intervention provider reference. If the applicant does not have a pastor for the pastoral reference, please contact grants@prestonranch.org for clarification before submitting the application.

The maximum allowable Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) for a family is $150,000, based on the previous year’s tax filing.

Preston Ranch Ministries accepts applications from Colorado residents only.

Preston Ranch encourages applicants to seek trauma-informed crisis intervention centers, as they endeavor to foster a safe and trusting environment for the child.

ELIGIBLE CRISIS INTERVENTION EXPENSES:

A crisis intervention grant could potentially cover a wide range of expenses, including but not limited to:

  1. Inpatient or Outpatient Psychiatric Care: Hospital stays or outpatient care during a mental health crisis.
  2. Self-Harm and Suicide Prevention Programs: Emergency services or counseling aimed at suicide and self-harm prevention.
  3. Prescription Medications: Costs for necessary medications, particularly those prescribed for long-term or critical care (excluding experimental, non-FDA approved or medications that do not align with Preston Ranch Statement of Faith.
  4. Substance Abuse Crisis Services: Immediate interventions for substance abuse or addiction-related crises.
  5. Crisis Stabilization Units (CSUs): Short-term, community-based facilities or treatment that provide intensive support and stabilization for children in acute psychiatric or behavioral health crises. These units aim to stabilize children without needing hospitalization.
  6. Residential Treatment Centers (RTCs) Specialized facilities that provide intensive, structured care for children experiencing severe or chronic mental health issues, behavioral problems, or substance use disorders. These centers offer 24-hour supervision and care in a residential setting and are designed to provide a stable environment for children who require more support than outpatient services can offer.
  7. Life Skills Development: Residential programs that help children develop practical life skills, such as problem-solving, emotional regulation, and vocational training, which can be critical to reintegration after treatment.
  8. Residential Treatment Center (RTC) Schools: Specialized facilities that combine educational services with therapeutic treatment in a residential setting. These schools are designed for children who have significant emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges that cannot be adequately addressed in traditional school settings or outpatient care environments. The goal of these centers is to provide both education and intensive therapeutic support to help children stabilize, develop coping skills, and achieve academic success.

EXCLUSIONS: Funding is not available for clinical trials, experimental medications or those without FDA approval, or treatments and medications that are not consistent with Preston Ranch Statement of Faith.
