Mental Health for Families Grant

With God’s leading, our aim is to champion families towards thriving in their commitment to Christ, adoption, and the healing and restoration of God’s children.

Welcome to Preston Ranch Ministries! We are committed to helping adoptive families thrive by offering financial assistance for mental health expenses for families. It is our privilege to support families on their post-adoption journey, and we look forward to getting to know your family through the application process.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Although our hope is to cover all granting requests, grants and the amounts awarded are contingent upon the number of applications that are received, the family’s financial situation, and current funding available.

Preston Ranch Mental Health Family Grants are designated to cover mental health expenses for families with adopted children. (See “Eligible Expenses” below for more details.)

Mental Health Family Grants are non-transferable and exclusively intended to cover mental health expenses for family, couples, or sibling therapy related to an adoption. Separate applications are available for mental health grants specifically intended for individual adopted children.

Preston Ranch accepts applications for mental health family grants every two years. However, applications for other grant categories (medical care, individual mental health, and crisis intervention) may be submitted during that two-year period.

Grants provide coverage of up to $150 per therapy session.

Mental Health Family Grants are provided as reimbursements directly to the family after all applicable insurance has been billed and exhausted. Once the post-insurance receipt, marked “paid” by the provider, is submitted to Preston Ranch Ministries, the reimbursement will be processed for one month’s mental health expenses at a time until the full grant amount is utilized.

Applications must be completed before the specified child, around whom the family is receiving therapy, turns 18. Grant funds will expire and will no longer be available on the child’s 20th birthday.

Grant funds are applied to expenses incurred on or after the date the application is completed and do not cover any previous mental health expenses.

If awarded a grant, all applicants must notify Preston Ranch Ministries at grants@prestonranch.org via email if any of the following changes occur: postponement or withdrawal from the mental health process, change in mental health provider, or disruption of the adoption. In the event of such changes, Preston Ranch Ministries reserves the right to discontinue the grant.

Eligible mental health expenses must be provided in the United States by a licensed mental health provider or overseen by a licensed provider.

Preston Ranch accepts applications and supplemental documents through the online platform only and does not accept these via mail or email.

The applicant must provide contact information for both a pastoral reference and a mental health provider reference. If the applicant does not have a pastor for the pastoral reference, please contact grants@prestonranch.org for clarification before submitting the application.

The maximum allowable Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) for a family is $150,000, based on the previous year’s tax filing.

Preston Ranch Ministries accepts applications from Colorado residents only.

Preston Ranch encourages applicants to seek trauma-informed mental health providers, as they endeavor to foster a safe and trusting environment for the family and child.
